JAKARTA, PINUSPRESS - MRT Jakarta has finally started their trial runs since 12 March 2019 until 23 March 2019. The purpose of the trials is to see the response from the public regarding the new services in the city.
“The response from the public has been amazing and we are increasing the quota from 28800 passengers to 50000 passengers per day beginning 18 March 2019” said by MRT Jakarta corporate secretary, M. Kamaluddin. This will be followed by increasing the operational hour from 8 am - 4 pm to 7 am to 5 pm.
The first day of the trial reached 4000 passengers and the quota is full for the last day of the trial. The trials are only be made available to those who hold the trial tickets, which can be purchased online.
General comments regarding the MRT were good, some said the facilities were clean and the trains are comfortable with properly air conditioned and enough seats. However, there was room for improvements such as the people do not queue properly and the escalator was not divided into those who stand still and those who are in a rush.
Indonesia’s president, Mr. Joko Widodo, set to inaugurate the service on the 24th March 2019. After the inauguration, the service will be open to public with the service being free for a week, from 25th March 2019 until 31 March 2019. However, to enjoy the service, the passengers need to purchase an ‘MRT’ card with the price of Rp 25000.
