JAKARTA, PINUSPRESS – PT Angkasa Pura II has confirmed that the third airplane runway is ready for operation in June 2019. The project that started building in April 2018 has finished all the required paperwork and infrastructure construction. The total cost of the new runway reached 6 trillion rupiah, where 2 trillion goes to the construction and 4 trillions goes to acquisition of the land.
Director of PT Angkasa Pura II said “This project will not be possible without the cooperation of the government and land owners around the area”. By extending its runway to 3 runways, Soekarno Hatta International Airport now can serve 120 flights per hour, a significant upgrade from 80 flights per hours with its 2 runways.
The area reached 216 hectares and previously, PT Angkasa Pura II has 49 hectares of unused land and they acquired another 167 hectares in order to complete this project. Hopefully, by increasing the number of runways, Soekarno Hatta Airport can have a better flight schedule without any delays that might disrupt passengers’ flight experience.
